Green Artisans on the move!

Local Artisan Sue Mangan born in Ontario creates all of her pieces from collections from landfill sites. Sue finds unusal and very usable materials to work with and her creations are quite magnificent and very colorful. The ture beauty is in the green transformation that happens as something once considered someones trash has a new life to be cherished for many many years. These materials are in huge abundance all over our lands. It takes the right person with a global awareness to see the uses of our wasteful world. Every piece of Sues work is a one of a kind and no two will ever be the same. Never a shortage of waste never short on creativity. Maybe you too will look at your trash differently and think, Trash to Treasure?

Handwoven Baskets by Julia Hoftzyer

Always a basket lover Julia learned to weave her first basket from a future mother in-law in Hilton New York and was hooked! She has now been weaving for over six years and enjoys sharing her love of weaving.
Julia's first baskets were woven from the kitchen table and now has the space of a converted bedroom. The baskets are from the basic muffin style to the ever popular stair step basket. Most baskets are dyed with coloured reed which she does by hand.
Many of Julia's baskets have received winning ribbons at the Norwood Fair and was chosen to go to the Ontario Associations of Agriculture Societies convention in Toronto. Her baskets have sold to Europe, United States, North Ontario and of course locally as well. Custom Orders are aways a pleasure for Julia and she has also has tried some twill weaving and would like to diversify into canning. See these wonderful baskets The the Country Corner today.
